Today, June 18th should have been our Annual Golf Day at the fabulous Dunham Forest Golf & Country Club. Unfortunately, we all know what got in the way and we took the decision to cancel the event back in March. Looking at the weather today, it might have been a good idea!
This would have been our third event and we were looking forward to making it even more special. As you can see from the photos, we have had lots of teams involved, varying weather and always had the support of Andrew Murray, European Tour Winner and BBC pundit. Last year we raised over £4,300 which is a huge amount of money for a small charity like HIP and we were hoping to improve on that.
As the golf clubs started to re-open though, we still wanted to try and make something positive happen and mark the occasion, and with the help of Andrew, and Jude Kenyon from JayKay Events, we have put together a simple competition that is easy for any golfers to get involved with. The emphasis isn't on fundraising but making sure that people don't forget HIP and all the work we do to reduce loneliness and social isolation for people who have acquired a head injury.
So, instead today we launch our Virtual Pairs Championship. Teams can play at their choice of club any day between now and next Thursday 25th June, send in their scores and then take part in our Zoom Prize Presentation. In fact, you can play more than once and at different venues if you're looking to get a winning score.
We have pairs playing at a range of clubs including Lymm, Carden Park and Woolten plus a couple in Yorkshire as of course geography isn't important this year. It's going to be interesting to see how many clubs we reach.
There is still time to get involved so if you would like to find out more and register, please email lisa.forbes@hipincheshire.org.uk
